CURRENT Projects

MHART, South sudanese Refugee resettlement (in progress)

As of late 2022, the resettlement project for six South Sudanese refugees living in the Kayuma Camp in Kenya is on-going. All six, which include five young adults and their grandmother, have been approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for sponsorship with spaces allocated to bring them to Canada. Though approved in late 2022, they still await interviews in Nairobi to receive the necessary documentation to come to Medicine Hat. MHART checks regularly on their applications and their well-being, yet still we all wait. Once word of their final approvals is received, MHART volunteers will spring into action, locating housing and all the things needed to prepare a welcome for them in our city.

CARO's support provides for the necessities of live and care of children under 3 at the orphanage site as well as the education and health care of older children on an outpatient basis.
